Chain Link Gravity Hinges By DAC Industries use the force of gravity to close your gate. When the gate is opened, the hinges swing the gate slightly upwards, which causes the gate to "fall" as it closes. It is a gentle closing motion (adjustable), and not as forceful as you get with spring loaded closers, which tend to snap the gate back to the closed position. Due to their simple design, Gravity Hinges also tend to last longer than spring loaded hinges, which can wear out after a while.

Available for 1-3/8" residential gates or 1-5/8" / 2" commercial gates.

With these 2-way hinges, you can swing the gate in OR out, and it will close properly every time. They also require little to no maintenance.

Gravity Hinges are ideal for use with DAC Auto Latches, but also works well with butterfly latches and bolt style latches.

Each Gravity Hinge set includes 2 post hinge parts (top and bottom), 2 gate frame hinge parts (top and bottom), and necessary hardware for installation.

Installation

Attach the male hinge top piece to the top of your gate post and the female hinge top piece to the top of your gate upright. Attach the bottom gravity hinge piece to the bottom of your gate post and the corresponding gravity hinge gate piece to the bottom of your gate upright. Hang the gate on the post by inserting the male hinge piece into the female hinge piece, and make sure that the bottom gravity hinge pieces fit together. See the Shop Drawings for Clarification.
