Chain link top rail sleeves connect two pieces of non-swedged top rail to form a continuous line at the top of your fence. Non-swedged top rail is the same diameter at both ends of the rail, whereas swedged rail has a smaller end that fits into the larger end of the next rail. Sleeves are only required on non-swedged rail, or rails where the swedged end has been cut off. Typically, 1-3/8" sleeves are used on residential fences, while 1-5/8" sleeves are used on commercial and industrial fencing.
Poly powder coated sleeves are a great, economical option that provide weather resistance and durable color. Designed for outdoor use, the polyester powder coat forms a thin layer that protects the underlying galvanized fitting from rust & corrosion. Poly coated fittings are generally less expensive than vinyl coated chain link fittings, which are dipped in vinyl and form a thick coating.
