Product Description
- Holds Chain Link Gates in the Open Position
- Simple, Low Maintenance Design
- Galvanized Coating Protects Against Rust
- Fits 1-5/8" or 2" Post.
Malleable "Duckbill" Gate Holdbacks are designed to catch your gate as it swings open and hold it in that position. Their operation is simple - when the gate is opening, it pushes the lever attached to the duckbill down until it clears it. The weight of the duckbill then springs the lever back up, trapping the gate in the open position. To release the gate, you simply raise the duckbill with your foot, which pushes the lever back down enough for the gate to swing back open. The simple design lasts for years with little to no maintenance.

Installation
To install the duckbill gate holdback, open your gate as far as you want it to open during operation. Mark the spot, and dig a post hole at that spot. Install a 1-5/8" or 2" piece of pipe so that 8" to 1' are out of the ground. Mount your holdback to that pipe using the provided U-Bolt and nuts. Make sure that the duckbill is facing your gate frame, and is at the bottom of the fitting (the back lever should be pointing up).
